G. 21.4.20

We have now considered further your letter of

the 6th April regarding the question of allowing Frau

Kronenberg to land at various British ports on her journey

to Shanghai.

As I think you are aware, there is nowlegislation dealing with former enemy aliens in all the Colonies and Protectorates. Under this legislation former enemy aliena

cannot be allowed to land without special permission from the Colonial Government, and in the case of this person there sems to be no ground for asking for such permission

and it is doubtful whether it would be of any use if it

were asked for; but we do not think that any objection

could be taken to the lady remaining on board the ship

and seeing her friends there.

We have recently asked the Governor of Hong Kong

whether there would be any objection to allowing German s to pass through Hong Kong en route for Chinese territory,
